George Murdoch is a well-known wrestler who goes by the name of Tyrus in the world of WWE. He is a very large man who stands at 6’7,” and he has also segued into some acting jobs and even a job as a political commentator. His other nicknames include Brodus Clay and G-Rilla, and he is definitely making a name for himself via various avenues.
George Murdoch was born on February 21, 1973, in Massachusetts. He has a brother, and some reports have indicated that the two brothers grew up in foster care, although that rumor has neither been confirmed nor denied. At a very young age, Murdoch showed an intense interest in the field of wrestling and with his larger-than-average body size, he decided early on that this career was a very distinct possibility for him.
Murdoch attended Quartz Hill High School in Los Angeles, California, then went to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he played football. In 2006, he signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to become a professional wrestler. The following year, he wrestled with Florida Championship Wrestling and he re-signed with WWE in January of 2010, remaining a professional wrestler to this day.

Getting His Career Started
Murdoch started his WWE career by training in Deep South Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling. On WWE NXT, a WWE program that paired experienced wrestlers with rookies to mentor them, Murdoch debuted during the fourth season as the bodyguard for pro wrestler Alberto del Rio. In 2012, WWE changed his image and began calling him The Funkusaurus, a funk dance manager by the Funkydactyls’ Naomi and Cameron.
He worked with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling under the name of Tyrus from 2014 to 2017, where he was allied with other wrestlers, including Ethan Carter III. It was at this time that he began calling himself Tyrus on a regular basis.
More About His Personal Life
George Murdoch is biracial; his father is black, and his mother is white. His father and mother were 19 and 15 respectively when he was born. His father was abusive and even hit young George in the eye at one point, damaging it. After this happened, his parents split up and he and his brother allegedly spent some time in foster care, although they were eventually reunited with their mother.
Murdoch, at one point, became obsessed with changing his skin color when he was younger because he thought that having lighter skin would make him more accepted by the community and would reunite his family. Even after the two boys were reunited with their mother, however, Murdoch ended up leaving home when he was only 15 years old.
Before attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Murdoch was a student at Antelope Valley College, and at one point, he was hoping to become a teacher. During his football days in Nebraska, he had to have surgery to remove a ruptured appendix. During the surgery, some nerve endings in his leg were severed, which caused him to limp permanently from then on. This was when Murdoch’s football career ended.
